The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Vermont College of Medicine (UVM) / Fletcher Allen Health Care (FAHC) is seeking a Director of Clinical Pathology with Hematopathology practice interest. Applicants should hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree with board certification in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology or Clinical Pathology and should be subspecialty board certified or eligible in Hematology. Clinical Pathology Directorship involves overseeing the activities of seven Clinical Pathologists and working with the lab management team to facilitate the operation of the clinical lab as well as multiple point-of-care testing sites. Participation in Hematopathology service activities, shared with two other Hematopathologists, involves all spheres of academic practice, including service, teaching, and research. Responsibilities include signout of hematopathology and flow cytometry specimens, teaching of housestaff, fellows, and medical students, and research in a relevant area of Hematopathology. The appointment of the successful applicant will be at the Associate or Full Professor level and on the tenure or non-tenure tract, depending on qualifications. Promotion of clinical research is also a priority. The FAHC Clinical Laboratory recently moved into a newly constructed, consolidated, state-of-the art facility and is a full service tertiary care laboratory performing over two million tests annually.
